During October the CSA farm share pick-up has been located inside the 5 Loaves Farmhouse at 70 W. Delavan. This structure, once a falling down house, has been transformed into a center not only for the farm, but for the community as well. Even in the midst of the current pandemic, this facility has provided numerous opportunities for 5 Loaves Farm to welcome the community into this space.
With large windows, and fans, for ventilation, as well as a spacious deck that overlooks the farm, this space has been a perfect spot for smaller groups (under 20) to meet during the COVID-19 outbreak. Whether being used for family parties, our summer farm stand, a 4-H youth retreat, church small groups, or weekly classes for interns in the Buffalo Urban Ministry Partnership (BUMP), the farmhouse has played a central role in 5LF living out its core value of connection. The space is available for rent on a pay-as-you-can basis, which allows some to pay more to help cover the costs, and others to pay less if that’s something they need during this economic season of life. Click on the FARMHOUSE tab on our website to find out more details and contact info to reserve the space.
This Fall, we are especially excited about a couple of opportunities for you to connect with 5LF at the farmhouse. First of all, our Farmhouse Fridays, on the first Friday of the month, which in the winter months have featured pay-as-you-can soup dinners, are changing this year. We are partnering with Drew Ludwig to make specialty pizzas that feature ingredients from the farm. Pizzas will be ordered online and picked up for takeout from the farmhouse. Be looking for the chance to get in on this during November.
Also during November, our fall fundraiser, Celebrate the Harvest, will also be taking place out of the farmhouse. As in the past it will again feature hot street foods prepared by the farm staff and our neighbors, but this year they will be available for takeout. Also available just in time for holidays, will be great gift items such as value-added farm products, like dried soup mixes and jams, as well as farm merchandise. Again, be looking for the order form in early November for pick-up on Saturday, November 21st.
We are so grateful for the farmhouse space and glad to be able to share it with our neighbors and the community again, even if it has to look a little different this year. Hopefully we’ll get to connect with you picking up your CSA share, a pizza on a Farmhouse Fridays, or hot pumpkin spice donuts during Celebrate the Harvest!
