Fried Okra

10 okra pods

1 egg

1/4 c. milk

1 cup cornmeal

1/2  tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp cayenne pepper

1 c. vegetable oil

Cut off okra caps & slice.  Whisk together milk & egg.  In separate bowl mix cornmeal & spices.  Heat 1/2 cup of oil in a cast iron pan.  In batches soak okra in egg/milk mixture & then dredge in cornmeal mix.  Fry in pan stirring frequently.  Add more oil to the pan with each batch.
